Sat, 10 May 2008 Wren (our gray cat) tangled with a skunk, and transferred the spray to
her kittens. Thankfully, no one else stinks, but that means I had to
bathe THREE cats in 1) vinegar and baking soda, 2) tomato paste, and 3)
dish soap. THREE CATS. Okay, so two of them are little, but Wren? She's strong. And she hates me right now. Which is okay, really because I did the unthinkable, and actually put her into water, scrubbed her and rinsed her with three different concoctions THREE times, and then rubbed lavender oil into my hands, and into her fur. Poor thing... What really sucks is we took pictures....or thought we did...but the card wasn't in the camera at the time, so I can't show you just how hilarious a cat looks when it's covered in tomato paste and looking like it would like to eat your face. Meanwhile, I have fresh coffee grounds (dry, unused) in a saucer in every room in the house, and vinegar with cinnamon in it boiling on the stove. I also have a pan of coffee grounds and cinnamon in the oven. The house is starting to smell okay again. Or maybe I've just gotten used to the smell of skunk rank. Those expecting a podcast? Forget it. I've been up since five thirty fumigating the house and bathing cats. I'm going back to bed. I'll be back next Saturday with a show on debunking myths that circulate within the pagan community. Gah! F Category: podcasts -- posted at: 9:39 AM Comments[6] |

Mon, 14 April 2008 As some of you know, it's been a very rough week for the Darkly Clan.
I'm sorry for the delay, but family has to come first. We're getting
through it in fine style, as is our usual way! Thanks for your well
wishes and prayers as we move through this transition period. In this episode (number nine!) we talk about the importance of having some basic foundational daily practices that include listening practices, talking practices, and celebratory practices. A few examples are given. The book "Evolutionary Witchcraft" by T. Thorn Coyle comes up and is recommended. We listen to Gaia Consort and Wendy Rule. Sun, 23 March 2008 In this show we talk about Witch Schools a little bit. Or, rather, I rant about them! Our paganism 101 segment is on hold until such time as I get your response to some questions I have about the direction it should take. We listen to Gaia Consort, as well as a personal favourite of Fey's, which shall remain nameless unless you actually listen, and we finish off with Spiral Dance.Full Show Notes at http://darklyfey.com Comments[2] |
Sun, 16 March 2008 Random Feyness! In this episode, I go on and on about various things, including Dragon Ritual Drummers, Spirits of the Earth Festival, and feedback from Onyx about my last show. It’s short! Very short! I had a very busy week, what with finishing up some homework, parenting, working, and ... uh ... going all long and rambly and lupine over the phone with a certain Elven character that y’all might know. (Hey, Tommy! Arrroooooo!) Next week, we’re back with a regular episode including our introductory shout outs and responses to feedback, our main topic, which will be a discussion (rant?) about so-called Witch Schools, and our paganism 101 segment. Music by Beltana. Full show notes at http://darklyfey.com Comments[2] |
Sun, 9 March 2008 In Episode 5, we explore the topic of responsible eclectic pagan practice. I wield the sledge hammer and throw honesty bombs about cultural misappropriation and the use of the word “use in reference to the gods. In our PAGANISM 101 segment, we talk a little bit about the tool of air, and my experience as both a student of tarot (where the tool of air is the blade) and as a student of feminist spirituality, Feri, and traditional Wicca. Music by Gaia Consort, Dragon Ritual Drummers, and Chalice and Blade. Love goes out to Aiden Odinson as he sits vigil for a sick friend. Love and hugs go out to Chris, Clare, Shadow from ND, Sean, Laurel, Onyx, Ken, Monika, and My FamDamily. Special thanks to my Elven Inspiration for keeping me thinking and musing and on my happy tippy toes. Full Show Notes, discussion, and links at http://darklyfey.com Comments[1] |
Sat, 1 March 2008 ![]() It's a brand new month! And you know what that means! You can VOTE for The Dark Side of Fey at Podcast Alley! We're in the sixth spot among my very favourite pagan podcast. The only way to keep us in the top ten is to vote every month! Thank you so much! SHOW NOTES In this episode, we revisit the topic of esoteric and exoteric spirituality briefly, and then we move on to my favourite topic of late, which is SPRING! I share a piece of writing that may give you some insight into how spring makes me feel, and I invite you to share how spring makes you feel. We’ll talk about ways to see spring in, and how we celebrate the turning of the season in our own lives. In our Paganism 101 segment we talk about the power To Know, and I share a piece of writing by one of my all time favourite witches, Alden Blackthorne of the Oak Moon Tradition. Musical interludes this week are Face in the Clouds by Gaia Consort, Breathe by Wendy Rule, and Spirit of the Spring Wind by Scott Hill. Sat, 23 February 2008 In this episode, we’ll talk about the difference between exoteric
(commonplace, simple, popular) and esoteric (for the few, inner,
initiatory, enigmatic) spirituality. We’ll explore the idea that
esoteric spirituality is not for everyone, and explore ways that those
who desire a less demanding and complex spirituality can have a more
exoteric kind of paganism than is offered by the more esoteric
initiatory paths.Full show notes and discussion at http://darklyfey.com Comments[0] |
Sat, 16 February 2008 In this episode, our main topic will be Armchair Paganism. Some suggestions are offered for getting out of the habit many of us solitaries have of thinking about it and reading about it, but not doing anything about it. We will review the book The Pagan Christ by Tom Harpur, and talk about the herb, basil. There will be a brief Paganism 101 Segment, and we will pull a card before we finish up. Our musical interludes feature Wendy Rule and Gaia Consort. We’ll leave you at the end of the show with The Bell by Threefold. Tue, 12 February 2008 There are so many wonderful pagan podcasts out there, so I thought I’d post a list (along with their ‘vote’ links for Podcast Alley). I stole the idea from Jeva of Lance and Graal (where are you guys??!!) who haven’t done a new show in quite some time now. They have a great list of everyone out there, but it’s not up to date (because you guys! where ARE you guys??). The list I posted here isn’t complete by any stretch of the imagination. I am hoping to build on it in my travels. If you know of something I’ve missed, please drop me a line? I’d love to take a listen. Meanwhile, here’s my list of UBER WONDERFUL PAGAN PODCASTS. If you want to vote for these wonderful pagan podcasts, and you’re not already a member of Podcast Alley, all it takes is an e-mail address and you can show your love for the podcasters who do it for ya! ::muah!:: Category: podcasts -- posted at: 10:09 PM Comments[2] |
Sun, 10 February 2008 Hey! I finally managed to figure it all out, and here I am with my very first podcast! Looky! We have Show Notes! The Very First Episode will include an introduction to the show, and your hostess, Darklyfey. We’ll also be talking a little bit about modern pagan practice and the accumulation of stuff. Some things to think about as you listen: Is the ‘stuff’ we acquire and feel we need to practice our pagan path really necessary? Is the accumulation of yet more ‘stuff’ in our lives a contradiction to those things we might profess as pagans? There's a challenge to stop shopping for a period of three months. You game? Check out the blog! In tarot segment, we’ll pull a card and talk about what it means. In our book segment, we’ll talk a little bit about The Way of the Green Witch, which fits in nicely with our main topic. We’ll enjoy music by Dust Rhinos, a band out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and a pretty song by Tigertail called Celtic Mystic Shout outs go to Deo's Shadow, the show that first inspired me to do this in the first place, and The Wigglian Way, who have me saying, to no one in particular, and on a regular basis - Thanks for walking....The Wigglian Way! I'm also indebted to music.podshow.com for the service they provide to little ol' podcasters like me. Hey, would ya give a girl a boost? Vote for me at Podcast Alley! :) Comments[8] |
